What is Holistic Wellness?

Updated: Jun 16

Holistic wellness transcends the mere absence of illness. It’s an intricate dance of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.

Physical Health: Think of our body as a machine. Just as a car needs quality fuel, regular maintenance, and the occasional tune-up, our bodies require balanced nutrition, exercise, and proper care. According to the World Health Organization, maintaining an optimal level of wellness is crucial to live a higher quality life.

Mental Health: According to the American Psychological Association, mental well-being includes psychological resilience and the ability to generate emotions that lead to good feelings, like happiness and contentment. Techniques such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and meditation can bolster mental wellness.

Emotional Health: The National Centre for Biotechnology Information emphasizes the importance of understanding and respecting feelings, which is pivotal for emotional health. This includes both positive emotions (like love and joy) and those we might consider negative (like anger or sadness).

Spiritual Health: A Harvard study found that people who attended religious services more than once a week had a 33% lower mortality risk during the study period than those who never attended services. This isn't about being religious per se, but about feeling connected to something greater than oneself.

Holistic wellness, then, is a conscious, deliberate process where we assess each aspect of our lives, ensuring we're in alignment and balance.

At Noia, everything we do comes from a holistic lens, as we believe that true healing stems from the intersection of feeling well in mind, body & spirit.
